YMCA TRIVANDRUM- MUTHOOOT MG GEORGE MEMORIAL INTERSCHOOL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

The YMCA Youth Centre Vettinad hosted the M G George Muthoot Memorial Inter-School 7s Football Tournament from July 14 to 26, 2023. The tournament featured participation from 80 schools across Kerala. Shri. Sivankutty, Hon. Minister for General Education and Labour, inaugurated the event, with Mr. George Jacob Muthoot, Chairman of Muthoot Group, and Mr. V.P. Shaji, former Indian Football team captain, attending as Guests of Honor. Govt. Ganapath Boys HS, Kozhikode clinched the championship trophy and a cash prize of one lakh rupees, while St. Mathews HS, Pozhiyoor secured the runner-up position along with cash prize of fty thousand rupees. St. Vincent HS, Kaniayapuram took the third place trophy and a cash prize of twenty-ve thousand rupees. St. Marys HSS, Pattom, Trivandrum, secured the fourth place. Individual awards were also presented: Master Shinu Xaviour from St. Mathews HS, Pozhiyoor, received the Junior Pele award and a cash prize of thirty thousand rupees. Master Steno T from St. Vincent HS, Kaniayapuram, was awarded the Golden Boot award and a cash prize of twenty thousand rupees. Master Muhammed Jihad from Govt. Ganapath Boys HS, Kozhikode, earned the Best Goalkeeper award along with a cash prize of ten thousand rupees. Mr. Salem from Govt. Ganapath Boys HS, Kozhikode, was recognized as the Best Coach. The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Shri. G. R. Anil, Hon. Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, along with dignitaries such as Mr. U Sharaf Ali, President of Kerala State Sports Council, Mr. George Jacob Muthoot, Chairman of Muthoot Group, Mr. V.P. Shaji, former Indian football captain, Mr. Abdul Noushad, former Captain of Kerala State Santhosh Trophy football tournament, and Mrs. A Leena, Secretary of Kerala State Sports Council.
